Hyacinth

Original Woodblock print, limited run of 7 prints. Had carved, inked with Cranfield ink, and pulled from our press. 

Rachel took inspiration for this print from the endless cycle of life into death and death into life. Life in the forest certainly reminds you how often seemingly opposite forces are actually just two sides of the same face. Rachel has always been fascinated by skulls and how the structures of a creature can look so different after transitioning from life into death, and how the empty eyes of a skull can still stare back at you, as if they know something. Conversely a dead thing, though done growing and developing as it did while alive, is always still in the process of becoming.  This piece demonstrates the willingness of life to emerge from what is left behind by that which came before. There is grief in this process, but also celebration. One from the other and back again, on and on, into forever.
